Cosmetic Ingredients:
1. Glycol esters: Fatty acid esters of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. Used as pearling agents and opacifiers/emulsifiers in lotions and conditioners. They also have application with other surface active agents as stabilizing, dispersing, wetting, foaming and suspending agents.
2. Fatty acid/alcohol esters: Widely used as skin conditioning agents, emollients, emulsifiers in cosmetics and anti-septic creams. Used as viscosity controlling agents. They make the skin smoother and prevent moisture loss. Tridecyl esters have a velvety after-feel and are recommended for use in all products which are left on throughout the day such as moisturizers, lotions, make-ups, face creams and day creams.
3. Alkyl Benzoates: Alkyl Benzoate is the ester of benzoic acid and C12-15 Alcohols (synthetic). It is a versatile emollient ester suitable for use across skincare, suncare and color cosmetics. This light ester offers excellent emolliency with added pigment-dispersing capabilities. In suncare, it can be used as an effective solvent for UV filters. Alkyl benzoates based on commercially available NATURAL alcohols such as C12-C14 Lauryl alcohol or C12-C16 Lauryl-Myristyl alcohol or C12-C18 Lauryl ceto-stearyl alcohol blends. These esters present properties equivalent to the conventional synthetic C12-C15 based alcohols and are much cheaper. Best of all, they are from a natural source and are now being used as alternatives to synthetic benzoic esters.
4. Emulsifying wax: Non-ionic and anionic emulsifying wax, widely used in cosmetics and health-care products as an effective emulsifier.
5. Fatty alcohol ethoxylates: Used for emulsification in ointments, creams and other cosmetics.
6. Triethanolamine (85%-98%): used as pH balancer in a variety of cosmetic products ranging from skin lotions, eye gels, moisturizers etc.
